Choosing a pedicure station: platform, chair and hygiene

The pedicure station is the most demanding corner of a nail salon. It combines water, a seated client, a technician working low to the ground and strict hygiene expectations. Planning it well before you buy saves rebuilding it later.

Choosing a pedicure station: platform, chair and hygiene

Start with comfort and access

A pedicure is a long, seated service, so the client's experience depends on the chair and the way they get into it. Check:

  • Platform height and step. A raised wooden platform gives the technician a better working angle, but the step must be safe and easy to use, including for older clients.
  • Seat and leg support. The client should be able to relax for the whole treatment with the legs supported and the back comfortable.
  • Space around the unit. Leave room for the technician's stool, for tools and for a towel or linen area within reach.

Hygiene comes first

The American Academy of Dermatology advises that foot baths and their filters be thoroughly disinfected, and that clients leave a salon that looks unclean. Your equipment should make that easy to do and easy to show:

  • A basin that can be cleaned and disinfected between every client without awkward corners.
  • Surfaces around the unit that wipe clean and tolerate regular cleaning products.
  • Tool storage that keeps instruments covered rather than lying in view.

Plan the plumbing at the drawing stage

A pedicure station needs water supply and drainage in the right place. Connections are normally made on site by a local installer, so agree the connection points with your supplier at the drawing stage, before production starts. Ask how the finish handles splashes and humidity, and how you should clean and care for it.

Our pedicure units are built as a wooden platform carrying a chair and a foot basin, made in a finish that matches the rest of the salon. See the pedicure stations and other salon furniture, or plan the whole room with our turnkey projects.
