Salon and spa furniture for the UAE and Gulf: duties, free zones and what buyers need
The UAE and Gulf are demanding markets for salons and spas: guests expect refined interiors and operators expect fast, well-documented deliveries. For a buyer sourcing from Türkiye, three things shape the cost and the timeline: the common tariff, free zones and the product itself.

The GCC common external tariff
According to the Goods Across Borders guide, most imports from outside the GCC face a 5% duty calculated on the CIF value, with some categories higher or exempt. Goods cleared once at a GCC port can move to other member states without paying the tariff again, though each state keeps its own customs authority. The UAE also applies VAT. Ask your broker for the exact tariff code and the current rates for your goods.
Free zones
The same guide notes that free zones such as JAFZA and DAFZA are treated as outside the GCC for customs purposes, and moving goods from a free zone to the mainland triggers the 5% duty unless a trade agreement preference applies. If you are a distributor, this affects where you stock goods.
What Gulf salons and spas ask for
- Elegant, high-finish interiors: lounge seating, reception desks and feature mirrors that photograph well. See spa relaxation area furniture.
- Pieces made to measure for hotel spas and mall units, and a consistent style across the whole fit-out; see our turnkey projects.
- Finishes that cope with a cool, air-conditioned interior and humid coastal air: tell us the conditions and we will advise on materials.
- Reliable delivery: ask for the delivery term, packing and lead time in the quotation.
Next step
Share your project, city and delivery term (EXW, FOB or CIF, see our Incoterms guide) and we will quote. See export information or request a quotation. Duty and VAT rules change, so this is general information; confirm with your customs broker.
