Salon and spa furniture for the European market: what buyers expect in 2026
Europe is the market where documentation matters as much as design. A European salon owner, hotel buyer or distributor will ask where the wood comes from, what duties apply and whether the pieces fit a space that is often small and old. Here is how we think about it, and what you should ask any supplier.

Why Türkiye is a practical source for Europe
Türkiye and the EU are in a customs union, and goods of Turkish origin can enter the EU free of customs duty with an ATR certificate, according to the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK). Import VAT still applies. We explain the route in our guide to importing from Türkiye to the EU. Delivery by road or sea is also short compared with sourcing from the Far East.
The new timber rules: EUDR
The EU Deforestation Regulation covers wood products, and furniture is within the scope of its annexed product list, according to CBI. Products must be deforestation-free, legal in the country of production and covered by a due diligence statement, and operators must be able to trace wood back to where it was grown. CBI reports that the regulation applies to large and medium enterprises from 30 December 2026, with later dates for micro and small enterprises, and that the rules have been revised more than once, so confirm the current position with your adviser.
In practice, a European buyer may ask a supplier for origin information on the timber and for supplier documents. Ask us early so we can collect it from our material suppliers; do not assume it can be produced after shipping.
What European salons usually need
- Compact, made-to-measure pieces for small or historic buildings, with clear dimensions.
- Calm, natural finishes. The 2026 trend reports point to warm, restful interiors; see our trends article.
- Easy-to-clean surfaces and good ergonomics for staff; see hygiene signs clients notice.
- Clear paperwork: invoice with Incoterms, packing list, ATR if you want duty-free entry, and wood packaging marking.
Ask your supplier these questions
Where does the wood come from, and can you document it? Who issues the ATR? Which delivery term do you quote? What is the lead time and how is the order packed? We answer these in the quotation; see our export information or send your layout. Rules change, so treat this as general information and confirm with a customs adviser.
